Thank you for setting up such a wonderful itinerary of Bordeaux for the Spoto Wine Club. The tour covered more than just tasting exceptional wines. It was very educational about the wine industry in the Bordeaux region of France, and also learning about cognac and Sauternes. All the Hotels were exceptional. The meals were fabulous. Enjoyed the cooking school, it was a unique experience. Thank you for the gift of Martell Cognac and arranging the wonderful farewell dinner at the Lalique restaurant and the Hotel Lafaurie Peyragueuy. We also enjoyed Bruno Coiffard as our guide, he was very knowledgeable.

London, Normandy, Paris & Krakow
8:01am – depart London-Eurostar train to Paris…very comfortable and a good experience except for the obvious.
11:30am – arrive Paris and drive to Normandy…2hrs and 45 min
Lunch or snack…our guide, Valentin was exceptional. Incredibly helpful on the medical side and very informative, fun and kept us engaged.
4pm Check-in to Hôtel Château d’Audrieu…concierge was not helpful but the facility is gorgeous. Breakfast buffet enjoyable.

06/01/24 – 9am…all day D-Day…Valentin did an excellent job

06/02/24 – checkout of Chateau 9am and drive Bayeux to Rouen
10am – Visit Lisieux (40 minute drive) for 2 hours
We visited the basilica of St Theresa and attended mass and it was excellent. The guide was very good, polite and accommodating.
Drive to Rouen 1 hr 10 min. for 1.5 hour…we spent all our time at St Therese’s.

Thank you for your patience with us.
Overall, the Goodmans had a magical first visit to Paris! They raved about the knowledge and kindness of their guides (and drivers) on Friday and Saturday. They loved the location of the hotel and especially noted the warm support of the Parisians.
They reported that the guide for Thursday afternoon (Tuileries Garden and Musée de l’Orangerie – quite a simple assignment, no?) was not as ‘cozy, chatty, or welcoming’ as we all had hoped (and I had specifically requested) for their very first day in Paris. They said she was fine but the experience was not very special.
They also loved their Uniworld cruise and were able to participate in every activity. The photos and texts they sent throughout the entire trip were charming and very tender.
I did not mention this before (discretion, privacy, respect, etc.) but it was extraordinary to me that this journey actually took place as Wallace is currently being treated for pancreatic cancer. I insisted on the most comprehensive insurance and was a bit doubtful that they could go – but they did and triumphed!

We had a wonderful time in Prague and also in Bordeaux at the Intercontinental.

The concierge arranged a trip on Tuesday which took us to Arcachon. We had oysters on the bay then climbed the dune. So far, I think that was John’s favorite moment.

We arrived at Chateau de la Treyne last evening and found it beautiful. Dinner in a small town nearby was memorable.

Karen, our guide yesterday and today, was amazing and took us to St. Emilion on our way here. She is great.

We look forward to the caves today.
