For a few days every October, Paris becomes the epicenter of the art world. As the leaves turn golden and the city’s rhythm slows into autumn, Art Basel Paris brings together artists, gallerists, and collectors from every corner of the globe. This year’s edition felt both intimate and expansive.

A New Energy in the Grand Palais
The fair’s fifth edition confirmed its growing confidence. Over 200 galleries from more than 40 countries presented works that spanned generations and movements, yet shared one unifying thread: a renewed attention to emotion and materiality. There was less spectacle, more depth.
At Hauser & Wirth, paintings by Gerhard Richter drew quiet crowds, while Galerie Lelong & Co. showcased subtle works by Etel Adnan, whose poetic colors resonated like verses on canvas.
The Emergence section, dedicated to rising galleries, stood out for its sincerity. Paris-based Galerie Crèvecoeur and Seoul’s Cylinder both offered fresh, fearless perspectives that reminded visitors why discovery remains the fair’s beating heart.
Outside the fair, Art Basel’s “Hors les Murs” installations transformed Avenue Winston Churchill into an open-air sculpture promenade. A monumental piece by Jean-Marie Appriou, shimmering in bronze and glass, became the unofficial meeting point for late-afternoon flâneurs and night owls alike.
Fashion, Performance, and the City as a Stage
Paris, of course, doesn’t stop at the exhibition hall. Beyond the Grand Palais, the city’s creative worlds blurred beautifully. One of the most talked-about moments was Helen Marten’s collaboration with Miu Miu, titled 30 Blizzards, a dreamlike fusion of fashion and installation that played with the boundaries between body, movement, and space.
Elsewhere, after-hours gatherings turned into spontaneous salons. Artists mingled with curators in Saint-Germain cafés, conversations drifted from technique to philosophy, and the art world once again felt alive, unpredictable, and utterly Parisian.
