Vallon Pont d'Arc

Geological curiosity unique in the world, the Pont d'Arc is the gateway to the Gorges de l'Ardèche and the nature reserve. Located near the UNESCO-listed Chauvet-Pont d'Arc cave, it is the fourth most photographed natural area in France with nearly 1.5 million visitors a year.

Provence then served as a base to conquer Gaul in 58-51 BC. This base was referred to “Provincia Romana”, and this is where the word “Provence” originates.
