Aux Vieux Couvent*

Au Vieux Couvent is one of those restaurants with a beautiful soul. A soul of a modern, diligent and high quality innkeeper. Welcome to the table of the Albrechts, a must in the gourmet geography of the Bas-Rhin.

You can spot this engaging earth-coloured house from afar, decorated with some of the emblematic half-timbering of the Lower Rhine, and situated near the flowery banks of the Brunnwasser: a former outbuilding of the Cistercian abbey of Koenigsbruck. Inside, a room bathed in light whose warm tones match the exterior plaster, but also the bucolic aesthetics of the place. On the plate, one can enjoy the work of Alexis Albrecht, who worked on the famous Crocodile, at the Pourcel brothers in Montpellier and even at Jacques Maximin's in Provence. His cuisine is part of the history of his land, which he revisits with inventiveness. As soon as he can, he highlights the fish from the Alsatian rivers... and the good vegetables from the family vegetable garden.
